
DebtCred is a national charity aimed at helping school leavers and students to get the best possible financial start in life. DebtCred Volunteer Educator programme is an initiative designed to help young people to manage their money and raise awareness of the benefits of credit and the hazards of overindebtedness. We are looking for Volunteer Educators across the country to join DebtCred as Volunteer Educators.

• Can you speak in front of groups of up to 250 people?
Role description
As an Educator your role will be to visit local schools to present financial literacy presentations to 14 to 19 year olds. You will have the opportunity to work closely with other Educators from Cattles, M&S Money, MBNA Bank of America and the Association of Credit Professionals on the project.
Time requirements
As part of the Volunteer Educator Programme you will present at schools local to you. The aim is to work with your local Education Business Partnership and ‘adopt’ a school, or a number of schools in your area. You will be have the opportunity to present to year groups (these can be as large as 250 pupils) or to classroom size audiences. As the schools you work with will be local to you we expect your time commitment to average two/three hours per presentations, depending on location.
On average DebtCred presentations run for forty minutes to one hour they are tailored to fit with a school’s timetable.
Experience
Previous experience working with young people is an advantage, however, not vital to the role. Training and support will be available. All Volunteer Educators undertake a two-day training programme.
